The stone men order the scientist and his wife to lead them back through the secret passageway to the Earth's surface. Fearing for the safety of his wife, the scientist obeys the orders. They retrace their path through the cavern and at last arrive at the Earth's surface atop a Mexican mountain. The stone men, after spending years in the darkness, find the intense sunlight blinding. They stagger clumsily, unable to see in the sun and topple off the mountain. As they fall, they break up into small rocks and are destroyed.
